Biography
| Lynn Swanson
was born in Seattle, Washington, into a family of gifted artists.
Her father was the head artist at a large graphics firm, and her
mother was a talented painter and illustrator. Other early influences
were her grandmother, aunts, and uncles, who worked in ceramics,
oil painting, and textiles. Before becoming involved with sculpture,
Lynn worked mainly in textile and clothing design, leatherwork,
and costuming. In recent years her focus has been on the many skills
and processes involved in creating bronze artwork. Her art education
has been an informal, gradual process of seeking out mentors, and
learning by doing. Twenty years ago she relocated to a farm on Whidbey
Island to raise a family and enjoy her lifelong love of animals. |

Artist Statement
| While
studying the animals that are often the subjects of my work, I am
captivated by their ability to exist simply, unburdened by the complexities
of human thought patterns. The use of simple, clean lines in my
work reflects my admiration for the unpretentiousness of nature. |
